The 17th International Symposium on Superconductivity was held at Niigata Convention Center (TOKIMESSE), Niigata, Japan for three days from Tuesdays, November 23 through Thursday, November 25, 2004. The attendee of InnoST took this valuable opportunity to discuss and share ideas with the scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs worldwide on the superconducting material research and the most recent achievements of HTS application fields.

From an address titled ″Towards a sustainable and competitive industrial structure″from the Japanese Ministry of Economy ,Trade and Industry, we knew that in order to stabilize the economic recovery and realize sustainable economic growth, the Japanese Ministry of Economy ,Trade and Industry drew up a plan in May. This plan focuses on innovation-based economic development, and it presents seven strategic areas such as fuel cell, robots, environment and energy. Given these conditions, there are now strong demands for HTS wires and HTS applications, hence further promoting the development and commercialization of HTS technologies.
