The President of SuperPower Visited InnoST to Accelerate The Development of HTS Wires and Applications

Philip J. Pellegrino, president of SuperPower, visited InnoST on Oct. 23, 2004. President Pellegrino and Dr. Han Zhenghe, chairman of InnoST, introduced their recent R&D in the field of superconductors respectively and discussed some HTS application projects.

SuperPower, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Intermagnetics General Corporation in the US, uses core capabilities in materials, cryogenics and magnetics to develop electric power components such as underground transmission and distribution cables, transformers, and fault current limiters. SuperPower and Japanese Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd., American Electric Power Company are developing techniques for manufacturing a 350m, 34.5kV/800A superconducting cable sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy and New York state government. This project will be finished in 2007.
