China First High Temperature Superconducting Cable Using HTS Wires Provided by InnoST has been Put into Operation

China’s first High Temperature Superconducting cable has been put into operation at Puji substation in Yunnan. The cable is one of the three cables that have such advanced electricity tranmission network worldwide. The 33.5m, 35kV /2kA, 3-phase cable uses a warm dielectric, closed-cycle cryogenic system.　

Innopower Superconductor Cable Co., Ltd. reported that, since the cable was commissioned for live grid operation on April 19, 2004, it has had no major faults or breakdowns, and has demonstrated satisfactory performance according to all design parameters. These results show that our HTS wires have met their electrical and mechanical requirements.
